![]() Jamie Barton is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt that trains out of Kuzushi Club in Dalton, GA. He's been training for four plus years and has plans to not stop anytime soon! Jiu-Jitsu is something he is very passionate about and you'll see that in this interview! Please check out what Jamie had to say about his training, his goals, and what Jiu-Jitsu has meant to him here: JK: Can you tell everyone a little about your training history and what is was that attracted you to Jiu-Jitsu? Barton: I have trained for four plus years, in both Gi and NoGi, primarily at the same location. I have competed several times in several organizations. I have also visited many Jiu-Jitsu schools throughout the USA. What attracts me to Jiu-Jitsu is the game of it. I love that Jiu-Jitsu is this physical problem solving game that is constantly evolving. JK: Where do you train and what brought you to that academy/gym?
Barton: I currently train at Kuzushi Club of Dalton, Ga. Location was the initial reason for choosing this school. Now I train at this location because of its structured instruction. Each class builds on recent classes and multiple classes are tied to an ultimate, overall goal of improving your fundamental knowledge. JK: What are some goals you would like to accomplish in Jiu-Jitsu in 2024? Barton: My goals for 2024 are to compete for the first time as a Purple Belt and to focus more on the leg game. JK: Who do you look up to in Jiu-Jitsu and why? Barton: Roberto 'Cyborg' Abreu. This man has a healthy outlook on competition. He seems to be a brutal competitor who wins and loses graciously. He wants to support everything Jiu-Jitsu. JK: Do you have any plans on competing in 2024 and if so when can we expect to see you on the mats? Barton: I do plan to compete. Hopefully multiple times. I currently am looking at a NAGA event in March. JK: Thank you for your time! Any words to everyone out there reading this? Barton: Jiu-Jitsu has value to me that I cannot express and I hope to do it until I’m physically unable.
