![]() We were able to catch up with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Ricky Pike today and were able to get a short little interview with him! Ricky Pike is not only a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, but he is also the owner and head instructor of All Heart Jiu-Jitsu in Senatobia, MS. Check out this interview and learn a little bit about one of Mississippi's local BJJ Black Belts: JK: You are the owner of All Heart Jiu-Jitsu in Mississippi. Can you tell us a little about the school and what makes it different than other academies? Pike: We are a small town school that has some very talented people training in it. Everyone just wants to see each other do well and push themselves to be the best they can be! JK: Being a coach is always fun, but everyone was also a student at one point. What has been the biggest difference for you between the two roles?
Pike: The biggest difference is the relaying of the knowledge and knowing how to talk and express how to do the technique. It's easy, to just do for an example an armbar, but actually breaking it down step by step is a different thing with knowing that what I'm showing could be the difference of someone winning or losing a fight. Being a student, you just get to sit back and learn. Now I have to learn and grow plus teach. JK: You are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt. How long have you been a Black Belt and who was it that promoted you and what does it mean to you to represent them as a Black Belt? Pike: 2 years as a Black Belt and I'm under Danny Dring. It means a lot truly. He is a really well respected Black Belt in the area and I always want to make him proud of what I am doing and my gym, which he always brags on my guys and gals. Just a real honor. JK: What has been your biggest personal accomplishment in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Pike: Receiving my Black Belt after 13 years of ups and downs, but I never quit. Then getting my first win as a Black Belt in competition just helped solidify to myself that I truly am a Black Belt. Sometimes it's still hard to believe. It's something I've been looking forward to and striving for, and finally getting there has been amazing. JK: What are some goals you have for 2024 for both yourself and your academy? Pike: Just keep growing, personally, so I can be the best I can for everyone. As for the gym, keep adding whatever my students need to help them obtain their dreams. On a personal side, I can see myself competing some more, bring out the robe and see what i can do! JK: Thank you for the time! Is there any last words you would like to get out to everyone reading this? Pike: I appreciate the interview and if you are ever down around Senatobia, MS and want to get some work in please reach out! We aren't about ego and drama. We as a gym, only want to make ourselves and others the best we can. I've been blessed to train with some of the best in the tri-state area over the last 15+ years in Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts for around 29 years. I know we can help others achieve what they might not even see is possible.
